Sally the Seal Tale

I was Mia the seal and I was perfect. Well, probably not but still awesome.
Today, this afternoon, I was going to be going out in the wild water by myself. My Mama and Papa taught me many things before I could go swim on the sandy beach. They taught me how to swim faster in case of emergencies and how to chase after prey if there was any.
So now, I was headed exactly to the sandy beach to take my swim. And to look for food for dinner. I was hoping to find some salmon fish or even maybe some rockfish, yum.
But then, I saw a gigantic THING. Swimming. In the water. It had some kind of net and I could see that it was heading straight in my direction. I felt really scared, and I feared what would happen to me if I got into the net. In my imagination, I got a not-so good image.
Racing as fast as I could, I tried to swim back under the water to my home.
But. To get to my house you had to swim over a gigantic coral growing out of the bottom of the sea. And when I tried to do THAT, I just ended up wasting time. The humongous thing came closer and closer.
Aah, It was coming for me! I decided to race to the Sandy Beach as fast as I could, but before I could move, the thing had come way too close. Wait, what was that? Aah! I turned around just in time to see a shiny net object being thrown at me. It turned out to be a net! “Noo!” I tried to yell, but the thing already got me.
Luckily, we were close by to the Sandy Beach. The thing had carried me all the way over there and then put me on the slippery and shiny sand. I tried to yelp, but my mouth was covered with the net.
Great. So they left me here, still in the net, and lying on the sand… WITHOUT AN ADULT?! Yes, it seemed my thought was true. I was either going to DIE here, or wait until another seal comes and sees me in this net and helps me get back to my parents.
I wasn’t relaying on humans to rescue me, though. From my short four years in this world, I learned that seals never should trust humans to help them. Some old seals say that when they tried to get help from them, they just threw some kind of odd thing at them. In their language, I think it’s called garbage. Huh, what a weird word.
I didn’t want that to happen to me, so I lay there not moving so I wouldn’t attract any attention to myself.
A While Later, from Anna and Jim’s Side of the Story
“Hey, look! I see something over there lying on the sand!” Says Anna to Jim, her brother.
She points to a black stiff thing lying there, and Jim notices it.
“Whazzat?” He asks, pointing to the thing outside.
“I don’t know,” She answers. “let’s go check it out!”
They walk outside and look around. They see the big lump and come over to it to look.
“Whoa,” They both said. “It’s a seal!”
“Huh, I wonder what’s it doing here?” Jim asked to himself.
“Jim, can’t you tell anything?! It’s a he or she! It’s not, not, NOT an it!” Anna scolded him.
“Oops, sorry.” He said and looked at the now the whining seal that was obviously asking for emergency help. At least he didn’t need any help figuring THAT out.
“Come on then, let’s help the seal!” said Anna.
Jim nodded in agreement.
“We should get Mom and Dad, we can’t just let the poor thing die here!” Jim said.
After that, they both ran off to get their parents.
Mia’s Side of the Story
Okay, so now they ran off to who knows where and I am still lying here on the sand.
Wait, is that them coming my way? Yes, oh yes, I think it is! And it seems like they got other people, too! I wonder who they are…! And, despite the bad feeling in my gut, I trust they will help me.
When they come up to me, they do some talking which I obviously cannot understand. I think, though, I heard the name Sally. Were they naming me to keep me?! Maybe they could’ve asked ME first! And, Sally? Really? That’s the best they could come up with? Ugh.
What Some people are really bad at picking names.
Also, I DO NOT want to live with them. Are you kidding me? Why would a normal seal live with some kind of creatures from the dark side or where ever they are born to begin with? Exactly.
But anyway, what they do is untangle me from the now really uncomfortable net (which I am thankful for). They then try to push me into the water, but I don’t budge.
No, no! I don’t want to go back in now that that ship thing has captured me with the net! I don’t want it to happen again. I also kind of forgot the way to my home in all the scary moments. So as you could see, I was not ready to go back in just yet. Or ever.
Anna and Jim’s Side of the Story
“Dad, it isn’t going back in the water. What do we do? Why isn’t she budging?” Asked a very hopeless voice. It was Jim.
“Don’t worry Jam, we’ll fix this. I think he or she is just scared or nervous. Gregory, do you have any ideas for this?” Asked his mother looking at Gregory, her husband.
“I’m not entirely sure this will work, but we could lure in the seal in a box with some sardines. Then we could put the box in the boat and we could swim around looking for the seal’s mother, father, or even if we get lucky his sister or brother.” He answered.
“Yay! We’ll help the homeless seal! Imma go get the sardines!” Shouted both children and raced each other to their house.
When they got back with the sardines, they were out of breath because of all the racing back and forth they had done.
“Here,” they said.“we got two packs of sardines.”
Taking the packs from their hands, Mom said, “Thank you, kids. Let’s now help this seal!”
The children yelped in excitement.
The adults got the seal to get into the box. When the kids looked in the box, the sardines were already eaten!
“Whoa, she ate those fast!” Said Anna.
“How do you know it’s a she? What if it’s a he? I’m hoping it’s a he, so you better do that too.” Said Jim.
“Why should I hope it’s a he? It’s a free thinking country! Come on, really? And I think it’s a she. *sticks out tongue* So there.” Anna shot back.
While the kids were arguing about whether the seal was a he or she, the adults piled the box in the boat and were about to call the kids over to sit in the boat.
Mia’s Side of the Story
Oh. My. Gosh! The humans put me in a box! It’s very dry in here, and kind of dark.
Oh, wait! They opened the box! I quickly climbed out, not wanting to spend one more second in the dry thing.
All around me, I saw the blue ocean. I also was surprised to find out that the kids were here, too! It was awesome.
Suddenly, I saw some seals near a rock. Were they my siblings? The family must’ve noticed them, too, because they were yelling to me to look at them and compare them to my parents.
I understood what they meant, and in no time at all, I saw that none of the seals there were my parents or brothers or sisters. Aww, I thought. When will I find my family?
Just then, I saw something swimming toward the boat. Was it….? Oh yes, I was! A seal! I saw her swimming right beside the boat, and thought, Mia, is this your sister? Bella? Is this her?
It turned out that it in fact WAS her! YESS! I screeched with happiness. I had finally found a seal that was in my family!
The humans probably saw that I saw my family member and, exchanging hopeful glances, got hold of me and put me in the cold blue water.
I jumped from their arms and swam for Bella.
“Hi! I found you! Yay! I’m so glad that you’re not dead!” Yelped Bella as she hugged her.
“Thank you, but they’re the ones who helped me!” I said, and pointed toward the human family, who was apparently now waving goodbye.
“……humans?” Asked Bella cautiously.
“Yes! Give me sec here…”
I swam over close to the boat. The humans were looking at me, their smiles being friendlier than ever.
In return I didn’t really know what to do. So, I did the only thing that came to mind.
I waved.
The End.
